My name is Ella Boylan. I am a mother and contemporary landscape artist in Port Lincoln, South Australia. Born and raised on the Eyre Peninsula, I loved to be outside as a child and have always had an affinity with the vast and rugged landscapes that underpin life in South Australia.
As long as I can remember I have had an inclination to externalise my inner world through creative endeavours. Both my grandmothers were clever makers of all sorts of things. I studied B.Arts (Visual Art) and a Graduate Diploma in Education. As my art career has developed I have been able to move on from my role as an educator and work as a full time artist since 2021. After suffering the loss of my brother and husband in separate sudden accidents, the creative process has truly been a survival mechanism, an island of inner stillness and outward expression.
Today I’m proud to say my work is well recognised in South Australia, via 11 sell out exhibitions, a full commission list, artwork exhibited in such places as Pirate Life Brewing and Adelaide Airport, and work sold all around Australia and Internationally. This has not been a solo journey, and I am extremely thankful for all the wonderful support along the way.
Ella Boylan Art has grown to become a multi-disciplinary art hub currently offering original works, community art projects (murals, consultation), art products, digital design, art classes and educational events.
My style can be labelled as colourful and contemporary. Not quite abstract but nor is it realism, it’s somewhere in between and I feel there is an instinctive familiarity amongst all my work.
Inspiration for my work comes from the world around me, my environment, experiences and emotions. Art continues to bring me healing; a place to discover and lose myself.
Above all my work is driven by a deep respect for the natural world and I am committed to creating meaningful, evocative art that speaks to the essence of Australia. I hope my art resonates with you, perhaps it’ll spark a memory or evoke an emotion. Thanks for being here and taking an interest in my work.
Ella
